Project Information

Design Engineering, Inc. (DEI) provided comprehensive CE&I services for the coating of Ramps 6, 7, and the overpass at Causeway Boulevard and Airline Drive, a vital connector in Jefferson Parish’s roadway network. The project was initiated by the Parish to proactively address corrosion concerns, extend the lifespan of key structural components, and enhance safety for the traveling public. Given the location’s high traffic volume and proximity to major intersections, the work required strategic phasing, strict quality assurance, and clear communication among all parties involved. DEI served as the Parish’s eyes and ears in the field, ensuring that all work met project specifications and was executed with minimal disruption to daily operations.

Scope Of Work

DEI’s CE&I team performed on-site inspection and documentation throughout all phases of surface preparation and coating application, including abrasive blasting, containment setup, and environmental controls. Our inspectors ensured compliance with SSPC standards, monitored field conditions, verified dry film thickness (DFT) measurements, and coordinated daily with the contractor and Parish representatives. The $5.4 million project included work on multiple elevated steel spans and required detailed traffic control coordination to minimize lane closures and disruptions. DEI’s oversight ensured that protective coatings were applied to specification, extending the life of the structure and enhancing public safety.
