Awards Projects

Design Engineering, Inc. received the Award of Excellence in Historic Preservation for our 419 Carondelet Project from The La Landmarks Society for 2019. The project was a challenging yet rewarding experience for our team, who successfully converted a historic 1858 building into a modern and stylish high-end residential apartment building with commercial spaces.

The project included a full renovation of the property, including steel shoring, brick repointing, and the restoration of many exterior and interior components. Our team worked tirelessly to restore the historic elements of the building while also incorporating modern amenities and code compliance. A wood-working shop was set up on the first floor to repair and rebuild original windows, doors, and millwork, and salvaged wood flooring and beams were re-milled into a stunning herringbone pattern with brass inlay.

In addition, the rear courtyard building was reconstructed and a beautiful saltwater pool was added to the courtyard. The result is a stunning blend of historic preservation and modern convenience that respects the building’s original character while incorporating today’s luxury standards.

We are honored to receive this recognition from The La Landmarks Society and would like to thank our dedicated project team for their hard work and commitment to excellence. Congratulations to everyone involved in this award-winning project!
